Saara Kahra is a Helsinki based writer. Her first poem was published at 13, the next at 31. Though Finnish by origin, she finds the best route to one’s core is not always the easiest, and currently writes more vividly in English. Her ancestors migrated to US in three generations, but always returned to Finland. Saara has left Finland to live, work and study in Belgium, Japan, Uganda and Nepal, but always returned. She is mostly a poet, by heart and skill, but is venturing into prose. The only literature she has studied is Japanese literature, which is kind of a sad story: 16 years ago she used to be able to write in Japanese, but now she cannot read, what she wrote. The big literary project yet to arrive.
