How to do content warnings right?

We are not against writers sharing work that generates strong, uncomfortable reactions in readers/listeners -- in fact we welcome it! -- but we are against those uncomfortable feelings being thrust upon readers/listeners when they are not expecting them.

Because of that, if the piece to share may contain sensitive content, we encourage writers to give certain warnings before reading it in the group. The writer does not need to go into detail about what will happen within the piece, simply stating one of the following headings is enough:

  1. Detailed descriptions of physical violence or bodily harm to humans or animals
  2. Detailed descriptions of sexual violence, or any non-consensual sexual activity
  3. Detailed descriptions of child abuse, physical or sexual
  4. Detailed descriptions of racist, homophobic, transphobic or body-shaming behavior; this includes the use of hate speech
  5. Detailed descriptions of self-harm or suicide

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
